The COVID-19 pandemic has brought a variety of new workplace safety challenges in foodservice, and they just keep coming with the spread of new, more transmissible variants of the virus.
The Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development (MLTSD) has reached out to the Ontario Restaurant, Hotel, and Motel Association (ORHMA) to ask for help in gathering evidence from the frontlines to help create more effective workplace guidance resources and supports in particular to mask-use.
“We believe that this is an important initiative that can have a positive impact for our workers,” says the association.
This is why ORHMA is asking for owners’ and operators’ immediate support by distributing a 15-minute survey about COVID-safe behaviours in the workplace to employees across Ontario.
- Employees who participate in the survey can enter to win one of three $200 VISA gift cards.
- Answers are confidential. Employees’ contact info (email) will be de-linked in the survey platform from individuals’ answers.
- This survey will be used to help the Ontario government respond to COVID-19. None of the information collected will be used to enforce compliance or to record non-compliance with any preventative health measures.

The survey closes on April 14. Questions about the survey can be sent to the MLTSD at [email protected].
