Event: Japanese Sake — Umami and its Dialogue with Food

The Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) and the Sake Institute of Ontario (SIO) are uniting to present an exclusive sake and food pairing event in February 2021.

Japanese Sake: Umami and its Dialogue with Food will be held in two parts; on February 15 from 5:30-7 p.m. ET and February 22 from 2:30-4 p.m. ET. The pair of free webinars are open to all liquor licensees and liquor trade professionals.

The webinars will be lead by sake sommelier and Sake Samurai Michael Tremblay and will offer participants an opportunity to explore sake’s versatility and tricks for creating perfect food matches with a particular focus on sake’s “secret weapon”, umami.

The first webinar will focus on four sakes: Hakutsuru Sho-Une Junmai Daiginjo, Izuma Gold Junmai Ginjo, Mutsu-Hassen Tokubetsu Junmai, and Ile Four Sparkling, in partnership with Bruce Ashley Group Inc., Ontario Spring Water Sake Company, Nippon Sake Imports Corp., and Amethyst Wine Agency Inc.

The second webinar will look at Kubota Senju Ginjo, Gekkeikan Black & Gold, Dewazakuru Oka Ginjo, and Okunomatsu Toro-Ringo sakes. Agencies involved will be OZAWA Canada Inc., Select Wines, Metropolitan Wines & Sakes, and Kado Enterprise.

The event is described as a great opportunity for non-Japanese restaurant owners to learn more about sake and to learn how to create unique sake experiences with their own menus.

Selected webinar registrants will receive a set of complimentary sakes and food items to accompany the webinar.

Interested participants can register HERE until January 14, 2021
