Press release
Good France / Goût de France is a unique global event held on five continents in over 150 countries which, for this fourth consecutive year, will involve restaurants and chefs from around the world.
Every one of them will offer “French menus” on the same day, Wednesday 21 March 2018, including Starter(s), Main course, Cheese course and Dessert, based on healthy cuisine that shows concern for the environment.
This fourth edition rallies 3,300 participating restaurants worldwide. In Canada, 32 restaurants have joined in the celebration, in Vancouver, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, Québec, but also Moncton or Baie Saint Paul. The complete list of participating restaurants in Canada can be found on the Good France website.
Kareen Rispal, French Ambassador to Canada said: “The “French gastronomic meal”, listed by the UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage, is a symbol of conviviality and creativity. Using local and fresh produce, promoting good health and showing respect for the environment are shared values in France just like in Canada. I am convinced that Good France will be a tremendous success and I am grateful to all the chefs across Canada committed to making Good France a strong moment for French cuisine while enriching it with Canadian flavors. Bon appétit!”
In 2017, France has made a significant comeback as a global tourist destination. Nearly 89 million international tourists visited France (up 5 per cent compared to 2016), a record-breaking year for French tourism. With a third of all travelers coming to France for its culinary heritage, French gastronomy is one of the key drivers of France’s attractiveness and cultural outreach.
