New Uber membership combines rides, delivery services

Uber has announced it is launching a new membership program called Uber One that combines its rides, grocery, and food delivery services.

The membership costs $9.99 a month or $99.99 a year and includes five per cent off eligible rides and delivery orders on food, grocery, alcohol, and more. It also offers an unlimited $0 delivery fee on food orders of $15 or more and grocery orders of at least $30.

In addition, it provides priority service with top-rated drivers, $5 in Uber Cash for inaccurate arrival estimates, and access to exclusive promotions and other invite-only experiences.

This follows the company’s introduction in April of its Pickup and Go service, which allows passengers to order and pick up meals and groceries en route to their destination.

It would seem the latest move is an attempt to offer even more convenience to Uber’s membership and deepen the loyalty it receives from its customers at a time when a growing number of diners are ordering directly from restaurants.
