QSR LTOs that hit a home run

With baseball in full swing, some QSRs are getting in on the action with baseball-themed promos. Capitalizing on the fan excitement for the World Series with watch parties and LTOs allows operators to attract dine-in guests, along with off-premise orders for guests watching the game at home.

While no stats are available yet for the upcoming playoffs, similar sports show that up to 74 per cent of NHL viewers consider ordering food during games, and 62 per cent of football fans “usually” watch games live. During playoff seasons, restaurants can see a significant rise in dine-in spending and food delivery, often reaching more than 20 per cent during peak games.

Here is a look at some of the QSRs offering LTOs celebrating this year’s World Series:

Boston Pizza is promoting its Home Run Special, offering MyBP members a free Cactus Cut Potatoes starter with the purchase of any Budweiser product or a $10 (ten-dollar) food purchase, following a Toronto Blue Jays™ home run. The offer is dine-in only and is valid at participating locations.

Denny’s is considering taking its famous Grand Slam to the next level, with a limited-time giveaway: if a Grand Slam is hit by either team during the championship series, existing Denny’s Rewards members will win a free Original Grand Slam breakfast. Should this occur, members will automatically receive an email notification with a unique barcode, which can be redeemed at a participating location between November 3 and November 10.

Chipotle Canada is rewarding guests with team spirit! Starting on Monday, October 27, from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., guests who wear their Toronto baseball apparel and order a dine-in entrée will receive a second entrée for free. The promotion applies to all bowls, burritos, salads, quesadillas, and taco entrées and is available at all Chipotle Canada locations.

LTOs like these offer operators the opportunity to celebrate something timely, capture the attention of a new crowd of customers, and get in on the local fun and excitement.
