Is breakfast the most important meal of the day? Even though dinner typically tops restaurant traffic, studies shows that morning visits can be a key revenue driver, accounting for 29 per cent of all visits. With more and more commuters headed back to the office, some QSRs have recently added breakfast or have switched up their breakfast menus to embrace fall.
While Wendy’s and Burger King’s morning menus have remained consistent, Chick-fil-A recently added a Chicken and Waffles Breakfast Sandwich (available all day), featuring warm maple-flavoured waffles sandwiching seasoned chicken, smoked applewood bacon and a honey butter spread. The new item adds fall flavour while incorporating protein into the morning meal. “We know that many of our guests are looking to start their day with meals that are higher in protein, but that shouldn’t mean sacrificing flavour,” said Allison Duncan, director of menu and packaging at Chick-fil-A.
At Stacked, the new fall menu includes an Apple Sausage Benedict, Pumpkin Cream Pancakes, and the return of Steak & Eggs Benedict, Pumpkin Crunch Waffle, Apple Pie Pancakes, and Harvest Hash & Eggs.
Denny’s has launched their Fall Fest menu, featuring the return of Pumpkin Pecan Pancake Slam, and the newly added Mushroom Swiss Melt and Mushroom & Onion Medley Sirloin Steak, along with some seasonally inspired cold beverages. “Fall at Denny’s is all about bringing people together over the familiar flavors they love most,” said Chris Bode, president and CEO of Denny’s.
Pür & Simple recently launched its limited time seasonal menu that focuses on comfort food, featuring a selection of hot and cold pumpkin beverages, as well as making pork belly the main character in poutine, Benedicts, and omelettes.
Cora’s is adding two new seasonal items to the menu, including a new autumn latte, and a sweet ’n salty dish that features a half-waffle with a sugar-cinnamon mix, apples, salted caramel and cinnamon, crunchy oatmeal crumble, a mix of English cream Cora-style and cream cheese, and more salted caramel.
Breakfast offers operators the opportunity to capture a new market while highlighting fall flavours, but for restaurants that don’t typically serve a morning meal, consider adding grab-and-go items that can entice your guests to visit earlier in the day and boost the bottom line.
