The Toronto Blue Jays and A&W have announced a three-year partnership that makes the quick-service chain the official burger supplier of Canada’s MLB franchise.
A&W, Canada’s original burger restaurant, has been a sponsor of the Blue Jays’ High-A Minor League affiliate, the Vancouver Canadians, since 2006.
After the imminent All-Star Break, A&W will be increasing its behind-home-plate presence at Rogers Centre. The brand also plans to introduce an exciting brand collaboration in restaurants later this summer.
“At A&W, we’re big baseball fans,” said Amanda Wang, A&W’s Director of National Promotions & Loyalty, in a release. “As a Canadian company, we’re so excited to support Canada’s Team as the ‘Official Burger of the Blue Jays.”
“A&W is a natural choice for our burger partner,” said David O’Reilly, Director, Partnerships, Toronto Blue Jays. “Our organizations are both focused on making a positive impact in our communities, and we are both well-loved by Canadians from coast-to-coast-to-coast.”
This is the second high-profile partnership that the burger chain has announced in recent weeks.
In early June, it was revealed that the company has signed a master franchisor deal with UK-based freshly made food and organic coffee chain Pret A Manger to bring the latter brand to Canada in a two-year pilot project. The first Canadian Pret will open in Vancouver this summer and if the trial is successful, A&W will have the exclusive right to expand the Pret brand across Canada.
