Chutneys Indian Grill sets sights on national expansion

Fast casual/QSR Indian restaurant concept coming to BC in 2018

Chutneys Indian Grill, Canada’s first fast casual/QSR Indian restaurant concept, will soon be bringing its unique Indian quick serve street eats to South Surrey, British Columbia. The first location was opened in Edmonton, Alberta in 2016, with the restaurant winning multiple Golden Fork Awards including “Best New Restaurant”, “Best Indian Restaurant”, and “Most Innovative Menu”. The amazing response from diners laid the foundation for what will be a national expansion plan for the company.

The restaurant offers a unique fully customizable menu where guest can select their choice of a Burroti, Bowl, or Salad Bowl. Guests then go down the line selecting their base, proteins, sauces, toppings and finally topping it off with their choice of house made Chutneys. The menu includes various other items including Masala Fries, Samosas, Kids Menu and more. Chutneys offer fresh food made in house daily, offering high quality food at an affordable price.

Chutneys has secured a location with Choice Properties at the new Grandview Central development in South Surrey. The site includes major anchors and tenants including Superstore and Shoppers Drug Mart. “We couldn’t be happier with the location, the area is extremely busy and frankly speaking there isn’t anything quite like Chutneys, so we expect to be a unique draw for diners in the area who want to experience Indian food that is fast, fresh and affordable.” CEO Joe Sangha shares his thoughts on the South Surrey location.

Now more than ever, people around the world are becoming more adventurous with their food choices and want to experience different and exciting ethnic cuisines from around the world. Indian food is one of the most popular ethnic cuisines and by offering a fast, fresh, and healthier alternative to the traditional Indian dining scene, Chutneys can attract both experienced Indian foodies and those trying it for the very first time.

CEO Joe Sangha on Chutneys, “When we developed the concept, we had the goal in mind of taking Indian food to the world in an entirely unique and new way. The way Chipotle was able to do with Tex-Mex and the way Panda Express was able to with Chinese cuisine. We are confident that once our guests try our menu, they will be coming back over and over. The feedback we have received has been overwhelming and we are excited to be the leader in the Indian QSR/Fast Casual segment and take our concept to the world.”

The Chutneys South Surrey location will be a corporate store; however, the company plans to use franchising to expand nationally and throughout North America. The Indian QSR/Fast Casual segment remains untapped and Chutneys appears positioned to become the industry leader with it’s unique concept, something that’s been missing on the dining scene.

British Columbians, prepare to be blown away as Chutneys will open its South Surrey doors by May of 2018. To learn more about the Chutneys brand, the menu offering, visit
