Canada’s first grocery store ghost kitchen now open in Toronto

Since the pandemic, the ghost kitchen concept has been popping up steadily, offering consumers the ability to access several different menus all in one place.

In a recent partnership between Kitchen Hub Food Hall and Longo’s Liberty Village, customers can now visit Canada’s first grocery store ghost kitchen. The ‘store-within-a-store’ concept features four new kitchens, including the Thai restaurant PAI, Mandy’s Gourmet Salads, Cabano’s Comfort Food, and Mexican fare from Tecolote.

This new concept allows customers to mix and match from any of these menus, along with the store’s grab-and-go options from The Cheesecake Factory Bakery, Elle Dee Cakes, and Longo’s prepared items like pizza, roasted chicken, bento sushi boxes, and more. Customers are easily able to place their orders at any of the on-site Kitchen Hub kiosks, as well as from kitchenhub.com or third-party delivery services.

“We identified an incredible opportunity to not only expand our business model by adding a completely new style of virtual food hall, but also benefit our grocery partner by driving foot traffic in-store and our customers by providing streamlined access to unbelievable takeout in a way that’s never been done before. We are thrilled to partner with Longo’s, another Toronto-founded brand, for this exciting new expansion,” explained Adam Armeland, Kitchen Hub co-founder and CEO, saying that the Liberty Village Longo’s was the right spot for their latest concept.

Kitchen Hub is exploring new locations and opportunities with Longo’s, offering customers the convenience of ordering from multiple menus in one place, while driving traffic to both brands.

“At Longo’s, our guests are always looking for delicious food as well as increasingly convenient ways to shop for quality meal solutions. We understand the changing demands and behaviors of our Guests and take pride in always evolving to deliver the best shopping experience possible” said Anthony Longo, president and CEO of Longo’s.

The Liberty Village location is about 22,000 sq. ft., featuring a full kitchen to complement the store’s marketplace, décor, and overall customer experience.
