Canadian Women in Food has announced the launch of its Francophone branch, Femmes Canadiennes dans l’Alimentation.
According to Canadian Women in Food, over 25 per cent of the country’s population is Francophone, leading the organization to believe that growing and fostering this population with their career in food is an important goal.
“Together, we want to strengthen the voices of all French-speaking female-identifying individuals working in food, and to promote a more inclusive space by creating opportunities for economic and professional growth,” a press release from the organization explained.
Three presidents have been nominated to champion this inclusion, with the support of Cheryl Appleton: Francoise Briet, Sandra Lefebvre, and Sophie Mendes.
