Eatertainment meets value for diners

Today’s consumers are looking for more value and a better dining experience. Eatertainment is a growing trend combining food and drink with entertainment, providing guests with a fun and memorable experience. Studies show that 76 per cent of consumers would rather spend money on eatertainment than on material items, incentivizing operators to up their game and compete in this space. In the same breath, persistent inflation has diners watching their pennies and focusing on increasing value from their favourite restaurants.

How can operators create compelling eatertainment experiences while adding value and increasing customer loyalty?

Chuck E. Cheese, one of the first eatertainment experts, recently added a subscription model to try and encourage repeat visits and increase perceived customer value. Allowing guests to visit many times for a monthly fee means that each visit costs the customer less, while still offering the same level of experience.

Dave & Buster’s, another original in the eatertainment space, is focusing on value, launching new deals to entice customers to visit.  Their new $5 all-day menu includes nachos, fried pickles, queso fries, cheese flatbread, and a combo with chips, salsa, and queso. Customers can also enjoy a 22 oz. Miller Lite, Coors Light, Bud Light, or Michelob Ultra for $5. Their final deal offers new and existing rewards members five free games with the purchase of a $20+ Power Card.

The American eatertainment chain, Top Golf, combines the guest dining experience with a high-tech indoor and outdoor golf game. They have recently added a weekday promo that is valid from Monday to Friday. When guests book play time between 9 am and 5 pm, they receive 30 minutes of play for free. This offer adds value for those guests who can come during off-peak times and provides the business with revenue they may not otherwise receive.

Whether it’s a subscription model, value meal, or more for less, guest expectations for restaurants are higher than ever as they search for memorable experiences that also focus on value.
